Studio audio and recordings

Playing the keyboard, drone, metronome, and guided phrases uses the Web Audio API on your device. The session recorder captures that generated studio output. Recordings and completed guided-practice entries are stored locally in the browser with IndexedDB and are not uploaded by these features. Clearing site data may remove them; download any recording you want to keep.

Microphone

Find My Sa, Sargam Tuner, Sur Detector, Pitch Training, and the Sargam or Raga phrase coach request microphone access only after you select the microphone control. Short audio frames are analysed in this browser to estimate frequency, note, cents, stability, phrase-transition timing, room-noise level, voice separation, and input-delay compensation. Raw microphone audio is not recorded, saved, or uploaded by these tools. The microphone track stops when you select “Stop,” leave the page, or close the tool.

MIDI

MIDI access is requested only when you select “Connect MIDI.” The browser provides device names and note messages to the page so the instrument can respond. Web Harmonium does not upload MIDI performances through this feature.

Saved preferences and offline use

Your selected Sa, labels, tempo, volume, reverb, and drone settings may be saved in localStorage. Daily Riyaz stores completion time and selected routine length locally. Guided harmonium rounds, numeric voice-phrase scores, per-note pitch and timing results, numeric input-check summaries, ear-training answers, and studio recordings are saved in IndexedDB so the Progress page can display them. None of this practice history is synced to an account. The studio also stores a last-visit timestamp locally so it can send a coarse return-within-seven-days analytics event on a later day; it does not store a browsing history. A service worker caches core site files for faster repeat visits and basic offline access. You can remove this data through the site controls or your browser’s site-data controls.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate visits and product events such as audio start, first note played, drone or metronome start, sequence playback, phrase input-check status, phrase-score completion, ear-training answers, Daily Riyaz completion, recording completion, tuner start or error, completed Sa suggestion, chord playback, and shared presets. Event parameters can include the selected note, exercise, tool mode, tempo, duration, answer correctness, chord name, pitch-stability score, input-quality category, coarse voice-to-room separation, or overall phrase score, but not microphone audio, per-frame pitch data, or a recording. Analytics may process device, browser, approximate location, and interaction information according to Google’s services and your browser or consent settings. The implementation requests IP anonymisation and defers loading until interaction or browser idle time.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Web Harmonium may use Google AdSense on selected content pages. When advertising is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may collect, share, and use information to serve, limit, personalise, and measure ads; prevent fraud and abuse; and report aggregate performance. This information may include the page URL, IP address, approximate location, browser or device information, ad interactions, cookies, web beacons, or other identifiers. Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies in your browser or use web beacons and IP addresses as a result of ads being served on this site.

Google describes how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Depending on your region, consent choice, and Google’s settings, an ad may be personalised using interests or previous activity, or non-personalised using contextual information such as the page topic and coarse location. Non-personalised and limited ads may still use permitted storage or identifiers for purposes such as fraud prevention, frequency capping, and aggregate measurement.

Consent and advertising choices

Where consent is required, including for eligible visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Web Harmonium will use a Google-certified consent management platform before enabling relevant advertising storage, personalisation, measurement, and vendor purposes. The consent message lets you consent, decline, or manage available purposes and vendors. If consent is not provided, advertising may be limited, non-personalised, or not shown. The harmonium and core practice tools remain available regardless of your advertising choice.

You can manage Google ad personalisation in My Ad Center, revisit the site’s consent message when that control is available, or block and delete cookies through your browser. The choices and controls available to you may vary by region and browser.

Children

Web Harmonium is a general-audience music-learning site and does not provide user accounts or knowingly collect personal information from children. Some practice melodies may be familiar to children, but pages identified as children’s content are not intended for personalised advertising. Advertising will be excluded from those pages unless the page is handled with the child-directed treatment required by applicable law and Google policy. A parent or guardian can clear locally stored practice data using the controls described below.

Sharing a preset

The share control and Teacher Mode create a URL containing non-sensitive practice settings such as Sa, tempo, label mode, drone choice, exercise, Raga, and phrase. The Teacher Mode QR image is generated in the browser from that URL, and the embed code points to a no-navigation version of the same public tools. These features do not include a recording or create a teacher or student account. Review any link before sending it to someone else.

Song notebooks and your most recent phrase, next note, layout, octave and transpose are saved in localStorage on this device. A personal phrase link or chart QR code includes the notes and beat lengths you captured or entered. Anyone you send it to can open them. Personal notes are placed in the URL fragment, which is not sent to the site server, and are excluded from the configured analytics page URL. Chart images are generated in your browser. Download, save and resume events measure the action and selected built-in phrase or the generic “personal” phrase identifier, not the captured note sequence.

On tutorial pages, a YouTube video is loaded only when you select its load button. Playing that video contacts YouTube and is subject to its privacy practices. The harmonium, personal notes and local recorder work without loading the video.

Correction and rights reports

The corrections form prepares text in your browser and opens GitHub with that text in a new issue draft. Web Harmonium does not receive the form through a private database or inbox. Nothing is published unless you choose to submit it on GitHub, where GitHub’s account and privacy terms apply. Do not place confidential evidence or personal contact details in a public report.

Your controls

• Stop microphone listening in a tuner or phrase coach, or revoke microphone access in browser settings.
• Delete recordings and practice-history entries individually from the Progress page.
• Clear saved site data, including cookies and offline files, in the browser.
• Block or revoke MIDI permission in browser settings.
• Use browser privacy controls or content blockers for analytics.
• Use the site consent message, when available, and Google’s advertising controls to manage advertising choices.

Changes and questions

This policy may be updated when the site adds a service, changes a data flow, or needs to reflect a legal or policy requirement. Material changes will receive a new effective date. For a privacy question, use the contact page; because its current reporting channel is public, do not include identity documents, private contact details, or other confidential information.
