How to play Arz Kiya Hai on Web Harmonium

Use the original laptop layout alongside an intro tutorial, then capture a few keys at a time. This workspace helps you keep and practise your own notes; it does not include a prewritten transcription of the song.

1. Watch a short phrase

Open the intro tutorial, slow it down with the video controls, and pause after a small group of notes.

The video loads from YouTube when you choose Load intro tutorial.

2. Match the keys and keep a phrase

  1. Use Original tutorial layout, octave 4 and transpose 0. E is C4, Q is A3, and the black key between E and R is 4.
  2. Open My song keys below and choose Capture my keys. Play the notes you have learnt, then stop capturing.
  3. Use Edit captured rhythm to change beat lengths. Choose Practise now, Download phrase PNG, or Save for later.

The initial Sa Re Ga exercise below is a keyboard warm-up, not the Arz Kiya Hai melody.

Capture the keys you play, or type a short phrase from your own notes. Each captured note starts at 1 beat. Use E:2 for a held key and _ for a rest. Touch-only notes use Western names, such as C6:2. Up to 48 notes per phrase.

Your notes stay on this device. Copying a phrase link includes those notes for its recipient.

A gentle first round

Keep the drone low. Match one note before adding speed.

Why do the tutorial keys sound different?

Some online harmoniums start C on Q. Rajaraman Iyer’s original starts C4 on E. A phrase copied from one layout will sound different on the other. Select Original tutorial, reset transpose to 0 and octave to 4, then check whether the video uses its own transposition.

Choosing Sa changes Sargam labels and the drone; it does not move the laptop key pitches. This site uses its own synthesised sound, so the timbre differs from the original’s recording.
