Capture the keys you play, or type a short phrase from your own notes. Each captured note starts at 1 beat. Use E:2 for a held key and _ for a rest. Touch-only notes use Western names, such as C6:2. Up to 48 notes per phrase.

Your notes stay on this device. Copying a phrase link includes those notes for its recipient.

MIDI is control data

A note-on message includes a MIDI note number and often velocity. A note-off message releases it. The controller itself may produce no sound.

Permission and support vary

The browser asks for MIDI access only after you choose Connect MIDI. Support differs across browsers and devices, so touch and computer-key controls remain available.

Sa does not rewrite the hardware

Selecting a new Sa changes relative labels and the drone root. Incoming MIDI note numbers continue to represent their fixed pitches.

Beginner practice

  1. Connect one controller and play middle C.
  2. Change Sa and observe the Sargam label.
  3. Test velocity and note release before practising chords.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting MIDI to carry the keyboard’s audio.
  • Granting access when no device needs to be used.
  • Assuming selected Sa transposes incoming note numbers.
